Yamaha Error Code 70: Engine Stopped After Long Idling
The ECU switched the engine off because it had been idling for about 20 minutes with the bike stopped. This is a built-in feature, not a fault.
Nothing is broken. Press the start button to restart. Avoid long idling in a closed space, and check the bike over only if the code appears without long idling.
Applies to: WR250R
Why Yamaha code 70 appears
- CommonThe engine was left idling for about 20 minutes with the bike stopped
What to do
Start at the top: the most likely and usually cheapest checks come first.
- The engine was left idling for about 20 minutes with the bike stopped. This includes leaving the bike running while you are away from it and idling it in the garage to warm it up or charge the battery. Press the start button to restart; the code will not come back once you ride off normally. To keep the battery charged during storage, use a battery charger or maintainer instead of idling the engine.

FAQ
Is code 70 a fault?
No. It only means the ECU stopped the engine after long idling. Press the start button and the engine will restart.
Why did my bike stop by itself while warming up in the garage?
Idling with the bike stopped for about 20 minutes triggers this feature. Warm the engine briefly instead, and never run it in a closed space for long.
What if code 70 appears without long idling?
That does not match how this feature normally works. Note when it happened and have the bike checked.
